Autism is a developmental condition
characterised by difficulties in social interaction and
communication, and a restricted range of activities and
interests.
While we understand that autism runs in families, the exact causes of the condition remain unknown.
The Autism and Related Disorders research team at the Telethon Institute for Child Health Research, led by Associate Professor Andrew Whitehouse, investigates the genetic and neurobiological causes of autism and related disorders, and conducts clinical intervention trials into these conditions. Find out what our team is doing to help individuals with autism and their families.
