A number of researchers have suggested that there is an inverse relationship between the prenatal concentrations of testosterone and language development i.e., higher concentrations of testosterone are related to slow language development, and vice versa.
However, accurate measurements of prenatal testosteornes are
difficult to obtain. Congenital Adrenal Hyperplasia (CAH) genetic
condition occuring in 1 in 15,000 live births, and exposes the
developing fetus to higher than normal levels of prenatal
androgens.
This study will compare the language ability of girls with and
without CAH to determine whether increased exposure to prenatal
testosterone may compromise language development.
Who can participate?
• Females with Congenital Adrenal
Hyperplasia
